Andrew Gross' The Dark Tide

Andrew Gross’ The Dark Tide

Plot:

On the morning Karen Friedman learns that her husband, a hedge fund manager, has been tragically killed, Detective Ty Hauck begins his investigation of another man's death in a suspicious hit-and-run in Karen's hometown.

The two seemingly unrelated tragedies are about to plunge a beautiful widow and a determined investigator into a maelstrom of murder, vast sums of missing money, and international conspiracy.

My Review and Thoughts:

This book has great character development. A thick story telling reality that builds the suspense and the tension displays a tragic quality that the reader can grab a hold of. Andrew Gross is able to spin the emotional turmoil into graphic word play and weave it into scenes the reader can relate to. You as the reader feel the pain, agony and heartache of the characters, you sense the danger taking place. That is how well written this book is. Andrew Gross is able to take you and hold you there in deep moments that satisfy and terrorize at the same time.

This book comes off like a crime taking place in front of a live camera, it's like its happening before your very eyes. The tense writing mixed with everyday drama creates a story the reader understands, follows and most of all lives page after page as the reader becomes the story written. The twists and turns are amazing, the blunt 360 turn around in the plot and story mixes well with every word on page and every thought from the reader.

You take what’s on the page as reality, you feel the frustration, anger and the unanswered questions that this story unfolds in great detail. It captures the mind and most of all the deep imagination that is a perfect fiction that feels non-fiction. This is a winner in detail as everything is explained page after page.

That thick adult mystery pulls the story together. You want to follow this book through until the end to see how the mystery unfolds. You the reader need it like it's caffeine. It draws you in just enough to buzz you and hold you until the final showdown. Just when you think you know what’s happening, boom, all over again, another twist, another turn into more mystery, more suspense and a different outcome. The book unfolds into a thick conspiracy of murder. This book is filled with intense wonderful edge of your seat action at times.

This book is a very smart and believable read. The main players Karen and Ty hold the story and you fall in love with them, and the relationship that grows gives off a wonderful spark of reality, you fall in love with both of the characters. You feel for these characters, the pain even though they are fictional, that is the quality of the writing.

A wonderful read, great writing, woven into a wonderful mystery and suspense page after page.
