Nicholas Spark's The Best of Me

Nicholas Sparks The Best of Me

Plot: The Best of Me is the heart-rending story of two small-town former high school sweethearts from opposite sides of the tracks. Now middle-aged, they’ve taken wildly divergent paths, but neither has lived the life they imagined . . . and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever altered their world. When they are both called back to their hometown for the funeral of the mentor who once gave them shelter, they will be forced to confront the choices each has made, and ask whether love can truly rewrite the past.

My Review and Thoughts:

The Spark's book was absolutely amazing as always. The author keeps your attention and you can hardly put the book down. The characters were remarkable that the author brought forward. I was able to understand each individual character. I experienced all types of emotions, Love, sensual reality, touching of the heart and soul, caring, hate, etc.

You have complex characters such as Dawson Cole who is that basic kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Then you have the very beautiful and rich Amanda Collier. So as you can guess this Romeo and Juliet type love affair begins yet breaks apart. So this was a love that Dawson felt was the biggest right in his down in the luck life. He never got over the wonderful Amanda and decided to live a life unfulfilled, a life with no love. Amanda moved on married but it was all a sham in reality because she to was still in love with Dawson and still thinks about the man from the wrong side.

Soon the romance starts to sparkle between the two past lovers again. But like all good stories of love and romance there is a darker side that happens and true love must face the ups and the downs Nicholas Sparks fashion. This book has gotten a lot of mixed reviews and I think that is because this one is a very different setting from most Sparks books, it creates a new form for him and in reality if I had not known the author, I would have never guessed who wrote it because it's in all honesty a step away from what I would expect in a Sparks book.

I do disagree with a lot of the negative reviews who say the characters lack or the story line is not reality based or that it's like a sappy predictable tale. I for one think the characters are well developed. Sparks story is unique. You the reader when going into this book should expect a fiction book, so what does reality based mean, when reading an imaginative fiction book, it's fiction, that's what it is. To want something beyond fiction when it is fiction makes no sense. I read books for the imaginative reality, to enjoy it because it's not real, it's a fictional romance and that's the beauty of it.

Almost all romance books are not reality based that's why people read them because it's a side step of basic life.

The story is strong, it was enough to keep your mind moving. The ending explained the story line as well as love and compassion that people have for each other. How do I rate this next to his other books: Tremendous as always. On a Scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the greatest, 1 being the worst, what number would I give it: 10, 10, 10, 10.

My favorite characters in the story where Dawson and Amanda along with Tuck each added there own reality and each one left a lasting mark on me. Would I recommend this book: Absolutely. How would I describe this book, Drama, Romance, Suspense, Mystery, all the above were alive in the story.

Sparks has away with grabbing his readers and placing them in the story, making them feel for the characters and creating real life settings and beautiful emotions and wonderful outcomes that touch the soul mind and body.

I have read all of his books and really have not disliked any of them. I am huge fan of his talent and I am a huge fan of this book. Sparks stories are able to take you beyond the mere words on page. He is able to transport you into the story, where you don't want to let go of the heart warming love or passion of tears or pain or anger.

A perfect book to read.
